Receh.in - Retail network operator Erafone PT Erajaya Swasembada Tbk (ERAA) has successfully maintained its net profit at IDR 1.01 trillion amid a rise in cost of sales throughout 2022.
ERAA's year-to-date profit attributable to the parent entity recorded a slight increase of 0.04% year-on-year (YoY) in 2022. The bottom line position was maintained despite the cost of sales increasing by 14.09% YoY to IDR 44.10 trillion in 2022, compared to IDR 38.66 trillion in 2021.
The increase in cost of sales was mainly contributed by a net purchase increase of 17.64% YoY. More than 40% of ERAA's purchases came from PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia, Apple South Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore, and PT Xiaomi Technology Indonesia.
Purchases from Samsung Indonesia recorded a 9.54% YoY decrease to IDR 7.84 trillion. Similarly, purchases from Apple decreased by 17.73% YoY to IDR 7.18 trillion. However, purchases from Xiaomi increased by 11.14% YoY from IDR 4.51 trillion in 2021 to IDR 5.01 trillion in 2022.
Overall, ERAA's net sales in 2022 reached IDR 49.47 trillion, up 13.81% compared to IDR 43.46 trillion in 2021. The contribution of mobile phone sales amounted to IDR 38.66 trillion or an increase of 12.56% YoY, while computer and other electronic equipment sales increased by 11.74% annually.
"This achievement is due to Erajaya's initiative in continuing its business expansion to expand its omni-channel network by adding 568 stores throughout 2022," said Erajaya Deputy Director Hasan Aula in a statement quoted on Saturday (1/4/2023).
As of December 31, 2022, Erajaya had 1,682 stores supported by 89 distribution points and collaborations with more than 66,000 resellers in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. This footprint expansion is also supported by the Erafone Cloud Retail Partner program, which provides opportunities for local partners to open Erafone stores in previously untapped locations. As of the end of December 2022, 54 Erafone Cloud Retail Partner stores had been opened in various locations in Indonesia.
"The omnichannel concept that has been built continues to be strengthened both by increasing capabilities and offerings through the eraspace.com e-commerce site, as well as collaborations with various marketplace platforms. This is complemented by the CRM program, myeraspace, which allows us to better recognize customers in order to provide meaningful offers, promotions, and shopping experiences to our customers. Myeraspace has more than 6.5 million members as of the end of December 2022, or a 48% growth from the previous year," added Hasan.
He said ERAA will continue to develop its handset business through penetration into new cities and strengthening the existing omnichannel concept. In 2023, Erajaya will continue to expand its footprint by adding around 600 specialty stores for the handset business. The additional stores are expected to strengthen the business fundamentals.
